Board Basics: Board Roles and Responsibilities

This is a perfect workshop for someone new to the role of Board member or someone looking for a bit of a refresher. By the end of the session you will understand the role of the board as well as the role of each individual board member. You will also be able to identify five primary areas of Board responsibility, including planning and evaluation, human resource and financial stewardship as well as risk management and community and stakeholder relations. Lastly, you will have an understanding of the role of the Executive Director in relation to the Board of Directors.

 By the end of the session you will be able to:

  • Define the role of the board
  • Identify and describe five primary areas of Board responsibility
  • Identify primary board types
  • Understand the role of the Executive Director in relationship to the board

Join Christine Oldfield for this session to review the basic policies and procedures of successful board practices. Learn of the how to create simple and clear roles around your board.
